Medical skills on the table
Twenty medical students will compete in the final of the Lister Surgical Skills Competition at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh today.
The contest is part of celebrations to commemorate the life and work of Lord Joseph Lister, the pioneer of antiseptic surgery, on the 100th anniversary of his death.
Students will demonstrate skills in tendon repair, anatomy, cross infection and laparoscopy tests, as they compete for the prize of a two-day trip to the Johnson & Johnson Medical Companies’ skills centre in Hamburg.
