Mary Erskine students’ art adds colour at Sick Kids
STUDENTS from the Mary Erskine School have donated a collection of artwork to be displayed at the Capital’s Sick Kids hospital.
The third-years presented their work to the Teapot Trust last night.
The school has built a strong relationship with the charity, which provides professional art therapy for children suffering from chronic illness.
At the start of this year, students won a grant from the Youth Philanthropy Initiative to support the Teapot Trust.
Jess Walter, Teapot Trust co-ordinator, said: “Right from the start, the Mary Erskine girls really understood what the charity was striving to achieve.”
Student Katie Thorley, said: “The whole of the third-year class wanted to give their support, so as a class we came up with this project. We are so pleased to be able to gift these to the Edinburgh Sick Kids hospital.”
The artwork will hang in the children and adolescent mental health services department of the Sick Kids hospital, where the Teapot Trust provides its one-to-one art therapy service.
