Mark arrival of Vikings at the museum

A NIGHT of entertainment will be held at the National Museum of Scotland to mark the opening of its next major exhibition, Vikings!

The RBS Museum Lates event, which takes place on Friday, February 22, will feature live music from Edinburgh indie-folk band Broken Records and Shetland fiddle-player Chris Stoutt, who recently played on the soundtrack to the film Brave.

Members of the audience will get the chance to find out more about Vikings, while there will also be themed workshops and the chance to explore the galleries of the museum by night.

Stephen Allen, head of learning and programmes at National Museums Scotland, said: “RBS Museum Lates continue to be a tremendous success, with great attendance and feedback from the audience.

“We’re looking forward to embracing the Vikings theme and, judging by the response to Behind the Masque last time, I’m sure the audience will be as well.”

Tickets for the 1800-capacity event are on sale at www.nms.ac.uk/lates or by phoning 0300 123 6789 and are priced £10 (£8 concession).
