Man jailed for 15 years for ‘appalling’ child sex abuse

A MAN has been jailed for 15 years for “appalling” charges of child sex abuse which had blighted the lives of his victims.

James Wilson, 55, of Corby, Northamptonshire, threatened one girl that if she told anyone what had happened, he would start to abuse her little brother.

Wilson was convicted by a jury of two charges of rape and four of indecent behaviour, involving three victims and committed at addresses in Glasgow and Corby. The offences dated back to 1984.

The judge, Lord Bannatyne, heard at the High Court in Edinburgh that Wilson had a conviction for indecent assault in England in 1986 when he had been jailed for five years.

“In this case, you have been convicted of an appalling series of offences. It is clear from the way they gave their evidence and the victim impact statements that your behaviour to them has had the most profound and long-lasting effect. The victims have had the most dreadful lives, partly resulting from your behaviour,” said the judge.

Wilson was put on the sex offenders’ register for life.
