Man held for robbing shops
A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with two alleged assaults and robberies at Edinburgh newsagents.
The 31-year-old man was to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.
The first incident took place at about 6:40am on Thursday, 21 January at the News Express in Craighall Road in Trinity when a shop assistant was held up at knifepoint.
The second took place at about 6:50am two days later at the RS McColl store on Pennywell Road.
Police today issued a description of a second suspect believed to be involved in the RS McColl robbery. He is white and wearing a grey beanie hat, grey tracksuit top and dark bottoms. He was riding a dark pedal cycle.
