Man arrested over mugging that left woman, 83, in hospital
A man is being held by police in connection with an attempted robbery that left an elderly woman in hospital.
The 83-year-old woman was knocked to the ground by an attacker, who tried to steal her handbag. The incident happened on a walkway near a Morrisons supermarket on Caledonian Road, Perth, at around 6.30pm yesterday.
She was taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary to be treated for a suspected broken hip, and was said to be in a stable condition today.
Tayside Police said this afternoon that a 24-year-old man had been detained and was helping officers with their inquiries.
