Man serious after vicious Leith attack

A MAN suffered serious facial injuries after being targeted in a “violent and unprovoked assault”.

The 35-year-old was walking home with a friend on South Fort Street, Leith, at 1.30am on Saturday when they saw a man shouting at passers-by.

The victim turned on to Trafalgar Lane and a few seconds later he was assaulted. The suspect is described as white, 18 to 21-years-old, around 5ft 6in tall with a stocky build and short brown hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms.

Detective Constable Mark Seymour said: “This was a violent and unprovoked assault, which has left the victim badly injured.

“A woman in a pink dressing gown and another man are believed to have witnessed this attack and we would ask both of these individuals to come forward and assist with our enquiries.”
