A PAIR of “vigilantes” broke the nose of a man spotted lashing his Boxer dog with a metal chain.

Police found Michael Mackinnon, 29, with his face covered in blood after being called when he was seen attacking the animal.

Mackinnon, of Gracemount Drive, was yesterday fined £187 after pleading guilty to repeatedly striking the dog with the metal leash in Robertson Avenue, Gorgie, on March 23.

Defence solicitor Cameron Tait told Edinburgh Sheriff Court the dog suffered no injuries and now lived with Mackinnon’s father.
