Man rescued from stuck boat
A MAN was rescued from rocks just west of Granton by the Queensferry inshore lifeboat yesterday afternoon after his cabin cruiser ran aground.
Brian McDermid, 59, was found in the water attempting to free the five-metre vessel after it became stuck on the rocks.
The RNLI crew were called out just after 1pm, and assisted by the land-based coastguard support vehicle, located Mr McDermid and rescued him from the water.
Despite difficult conditions with a metre-and-a-half swell and force four winds, lifeboatman Matthew Foster entered the water and used bolt cutters to separate the cables connecting the boat to its outboard motor, which had become wedged in the rocks.
The boat was then towed to Granton Harbour where Mr McDermid, of Royston Mains, was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from suspected hypothermia.
