Man in court over attack
A MAN has appeared in court charged with assaulting and attempting to rob an 89-year-old man.
The pensioner, who walks with a stick, was attacked on October 20 after getting off a bus in the Grange area of the city.
Ian Paterson, 47, from Edinburgh, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody following his appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
He is expected to appear in court again next week.
The pensioner was not seriously injured but was said to have been “extremely shaken”.
The charges come after a police appeal made through the Evening News on Monday saw CCTV images taken from two Lothian buses released to the public.
