The man who died in the accident at a grain merchants has been named as David Leslie

A MAN suffered facial injuries after he was attacked by four youths who chased him and stole his mobile phone.

The 31-year-old victim fled from the suspects – described as being aged between 16 and 18-years-old – from Wishaw Terrace into Marionville Road, in Meadowbank, early on Sunday morning.

Two of the suspects are described as 5ft 8ins tall, with athletic builds, while another is described as 5ft 10ins tall, slim build, with short dark hair, and wearing a dark top.

The remaining suspect is 5ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins tall, with a stocky build.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident, which took place around 3.30am on Sunday, to come forward.

Detective Constable John McShane said: “This was an unprovoked attack that resulted in the victim sustaining facial injuries that required hospital treatment, and we are appealing to anyone who has any information that can help us trace those responsible to contact us.

“Anyone who witnessed the assault, or who saw a group of four youths in the area around the time of the incident, should contact police on 101.

“Anyone else who recognises their descriptions, or who has any other information that can assist our enquiries, should also get in touch.”
