Man held over tenement explosion

A MAN was being held by police yesterday in connection with an explosion in a tenement close.

The 24-year-old, from Dundee, has been detained by Tayside police investigating the blast in Cullen Place, Dundee, on Thursday night.

Police said at the time that the device could have put lives at risk and caused significant damage. They said the device was not sophisticated, but was designed to cause harm.

No-one was injured but doors and windows in the block were damaged.

The man was detained by officers, who stopped a van in Claverhouse Road, Dundee, shortly before 9pm on Saturday.
