Man guilty of two assaults

A MAN has been remanded in custody after being convicted of separate late-night attacks on two women, raping one and kicking out the teeth of the other.

Mohamed Ben el-Hassan, 35, struck first in Dunfermline, Fife, in August 2010, when Katherine Shade, 24, a teacher, was walking home after a night out. El Hassan then met a woman, 35, and her sister and invited them to a party in the early hours of 1 January, 2011.

While the sister was at the toilet, el Hassan “jumped on top” of the woman. The sister returned, and grabbed El Hassan off the woman and they fled.

El Hassan had pleaded alibi to the assault, and consent to the rape charge, but the jury found him guilty of both offences
