Man evicted over his dog’s mess

A GLASGOW man yesterday became the first person in the city to be evicted for failing to clear up his dog’s mess.

The 29-year-old lived alone in an Elderpark Housing Association flat. He had repeatedly been issued with £40 fixed penalty fines notices by Glasgow Community and Safety Services but refused to pay up.

Housing association bosses decided enough was enough and took court action, using anti-social behaviour legislation to obtain an eviction order.

With a combination of CCTV footage of the dirty deeds and witness statements, they succeeded in having him evicted. Councillor Bailie Fariha Thomas, of the Govan Ward, said: “It’s always sad when someone is evicted, but on this occasion I’m pleased it’s been done.”
