A MAN has died in an industrial accident at a grain merchants in Aberdeenshire.

The 49 year-old man, who has still to be named, was pronounced dead at the scene after the emergency services were called to the plant of East Coast Viners at Broadwood near Drumlithie.

The company is a grain merchants which specialises in the production of compound animal feeds for poultry, cattle and sheep all over Scotland.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: “The incident was reported to police about 10.12 am. Unfortunately, a man aged in his 40s suffered fatal injuries.”

He added: “A joint investigation is being conducted along with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances.”
