Man dies in apparent suicide after Edinburgh bridge jump

A MAN has died after jumping from North Bridge onto a railway line at Waverley Station this morning.

• Incident ocurred shortly after 8am

Police, medics and firefighters rushed to the scene of the incident shortly after 8am following a report from a driver that his train had passed over a body at platform nine.

The jump was also seen by shocked eyewitnesses.

ScotRail said there was no disruption to services as a result of the incident but East Coast reported service delays on some lines.
