Man dies after being knocked down by van

A MAN who was knocked down by a van in Dumfries and Galloway has died in hospital.

The collision happened on A702 Dalveen Pass road, near the junction with Carronbridge at about 10pm yesterday.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the man, who has not been named, was hit by a white Renault Trafic van.

He was taken by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, but has since died.

The van driver was not hurt.

Police said a crash investigation was being carried out.
