A MAN has been detained by Tayside Police after a woman plunged to her death from a multi-storey block of flats in the Lochee area of Dundee.

The woman who died has been named as Jennifer Findlay, 46, of Elders Court, Dundee.

She was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday night after police officers and paramedics were called to the multi storey block. She had fallen from the fifth floor.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said her “sudden” death was being treated as unexplained.

The spokesman said: “Tayside Police enquiries into the sudden death of a 46 year-old woman, who fell from the fifth floor of Elders Court multi-storey building, are continuing today.

“The deceased has been formally identified as Jennifer Findlay of Elders, Court. Her death is being treated as unexplained at this time.”

He continued: “Emergency services were called to the area at about 8.30pm after the woman was reported to have fallen to the ground below. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Tayside Police can confirm that a 44 year-old man is currently detained and is assisting officers with their investigation into the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Door to door enquiries are ongoing through today, as is a review of public and private CCTV. There will also be a full forensic examination of the address from which the deceased fell.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and officers would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who has not already spoken with the police to contact them.”
