Man beaten with metal pole by muggers

A MAN suffered bruising and swelling to his face and legs after being attacked with a metal pole by two muggers beside the Meadows.

The 22-year-old was walking in Meadow Lane between 12.30am and 1am yesterday when the suspects engaged him in conversation before striking him with the pole.

After falling to the ground, the victim was beaten with the pole before being robbed.

Both suspects, who had local accents, made off towards Buccleuch Street. The first is described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 6ft 2in tall with a slim build and short brown hair. He was wearing a white hooded top. The second is white, 25 to 30 years old, 5ft 10in tall with a medium to stocky build and a blond, shaven head. He was wearing a light-coloured top.
