James Thomson denied all charges at Haddington Sheriff Court

A MAN is to stand trial charged with attacking a Chinese restaurant worker with a pair of chopsticks.

James Thomson, from North Berwick, East Lothian, is alleged to have thrown the wooden utensils at the waiter during an incident at the town’s Lucky House restaurant.

Mr Thomson, 38, is also said to have shouted racist remarks at the employee during the fracas on December 16 last year.

It is also alleged Mr Thomson behaved in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing at the waiter during the confrontation in the Cantonese restuarant.

Mr Thomson denied all the charges during an appearance at Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday, and will return to court in June to face trial.
