Man arrested for posting offensive material online on Rangers ‘big tax case’

A MAN has been arrested over alleged offensive online material surrounding Rangers’ financial affairs.
The 37-year-old went voluntarily to a police station in Glasgow at lunchtime on Thursday.
He was arrested by officers at the national Football Co-ordination Unit after arranging to attend the city’s Helen Street police office, Strathclyde Police said.
Officers confirmed the allegedly offensive material related to the Rangers tax case.
The Scotsman understands relates to a comment on the Rangers Tax Case blog, but not by blogger themself.
The man, from Glasgow, has been released on an undertaking and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on 20 December. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Earlier this week, a First Tier Tax Tribunal found “oldco” Rangers, who faced a claim by HMRC in relation to the use of Employee Benefit Trusts, had not acted illegally.
