AN 18-year-old man has been arrested after seven people were treated in hospital due to taking a potentially deadly drug known as ‘Rockstar’.

He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The red or yellow tablets, being sold as ecstasy, are known to be circulating in the Lanarkshire area. Strathclyde Police have issued a public warning about the dangers of the substance, which officers said had made a number of young people seriously ill.

Chief Inspector Fraser Lamb said: “These substances are unreliable, unpredictable and potentially very dangerous.”

All those taken to hospital have since been allowed home.
