Man and dog sought after child attacked in Paisley

POLICE are continuing enquiries after a young girl was bitten by a dog in Paisley.

The two-year-old was in Brodie Park with her mother when she was bitten by the dog at about 6pm on Saturday. It grabbed her by the ankle, dragging her to the ground. Her mother attempted to pull the dog from her daughter but it then bit her on the hand. A man then grabbed the dog and ran from the park.

The girl was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital but was later transferred to Yorkhill Hospital where she is being treated for injuries to her ankle and foot.

The dog is described as a “pitbull” type. The man who took the animal is white, in his 30s, with a slim build.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area. Witnessed are asked to contact police on 0141 532-5900.
