Main road into city to close for tram works
ONE of the main routes into the Capital will close this weekend while tram works are carried out.
The South Gyle Access Road will be closed from 7am on Saturday until 7pm on Sunday to accommodate work on the South Gyle Access Bridge, which trams will pass over on their way to Edinburgh Airport.
Alternative routes will be available, from Bankhead Drive to Glasgow Road via Meadow Place Road, or from South Gyle Broadway to Glasgow Road via the Gogar Roundabout. Pedestrian access won’t be affected.
Lesley Hinds, the city’s transport leader, said: “It is very important that we keep up the momentum of recent months and make steady progress.
“In order to do this, road closures are sometimes necessary and I understand that these cause inconvenience. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of this.”
