Madam accused to stand trial in US

A JUDGE has refused to dismiss the case of a Scottish-born suburban mother charged with being a Manhattan madam.

Anna Gristina appeared in court yesterday for her promoting prostitution case. Gristina’s trial was set for 15 October.

Prosecutors say Gristina peddled prostitutes for 15 years and claimed law enforcement connections.

Her lawyers have said she was merely starting a matchmaking business.

Co-defendant Jaynie Baker’s court appearance was postponed. A person familiar with the case said this week that Baker has made a deal with prosecutors.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement has not been aired in court.
