POLICE are currently searching a field in connection with the Lynda Spence murder inquiry.

Four men are to stand trial accused of kidnapping Ms Spence and subjecting her to a two-week ordeal of torture and abuse, before killing her and disposing of her body.

However, the financial adviser, 28, who disappeared in April after leaving her parents’ house in Glasgow has never been found.

It is alleged that the gang chopped off her fingers and thumb, attacked her with a golf club, an iron and a hammer, while holding her hostage.

Police would not comment on the search in Law Hill, West Kilbride, except to say it was in connection with the investigation.

Colin Coates, 41, Paul Smith, 45, Philip Wade, 40, and David Parker, 36, are accused of abducting Ms Spence from the Broomhill area of Glasgow or elsewhere, forcing her to travel to Ayrshire and detaining her against her will at a house in Meadowfoot Road, West Kilbride.
