Legend backs dyslexia DVD
SIR Jackie Stewart, the motor-racing legend, yesterday said he hoped a new DVD would help to increase awareness of dyslexia and prevent sufferers "being left in the dustbin of life".
The three-times Formula 1 world champion was in Edinburgh to launch the Scottish Executive-funded DVD, which is being sent to every school in the country to raise awareness of the condition.
The DVD features Sir Jackie - who was not diagnosed as being dyslexic until the age of 41 - speaking about how he struggled while at school. It is aimed at supporting children in the move from primary to secondary.
Dyslexia in Transition follows pupils with dyslexia during this period, speaking to children before they leave primary, just after they start secondary education and at the end of the first year.
The DVD is aimed at teachers, pupils and parents.
