Journey into roads future

Drivers from the Capital who use major roads across the Central Belt are to be given extra help to make travel plans.

Live journey time information will be displayed on signs along the M74, M73, M80 and M77, allowing drivers on more routes the ability to assess their travel plans while on the move.

It builds on the service launched on the M8 last year, which enabled road users to see journey times displayed in real time along the M8 and right into Edinburgh city centre.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “This scheme is already allowing M8 journey times to be calculated and displayed in real time for journeys or part-journeys between
Scotland’s two biggest cities.”
