Johnstone offers support to boost canine welfare

LOTHIAN MSP Alison
Johnstone has pledged her commitment to improving dog welfare.

The pooch-loving Green Party member and her daughter, Laurie, met staff at the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in West Calder.

Ms Johnstone said: “It was a real pleasure to see first-hand the dedicated work of staff at Dogs Trust. The work they do at their centre in West Calder and others across the UK is second to none. They have my wholehearted support for their vital work in the community offering services such as microchipping and taking in dogs for rehoming when families feel that they have no other option.”

The MSP was given a tour and held talks with training and behaviour adviser Julie Morrison. Ms Morrison said: “The staff all appreciated the time she took to meet some of the dogs and hear their stories. Dogs Trust is working hard to reduce the number of stray dogs in Scotland.”
