It’s pop luck for young stars

SCHOOL pupils could be set for stardom in a new competition which sees them record a pop song and video.

Almost 1000 primary six and seven children have split into 30 teams to register for the “M Factor” contest run by Midlothian Council.

The videos will be uploaded to a website in May for people to vote for their favourite, with the winners announced a month later. Councillor Lisa Beattie, Midlothian’s education spokeswoman, said: “This is a fantastic challenge for all our pupils to be involved in.

“There may not be any Simon Cowell on the judging panel but I’m sure our young people can be just as good, if not better than the TV competition. This is a great project to highlight the fantastic things that go on within our schools.”
