Inspectors give primary full marks

A PRIMARY school has been hailed after receiving a glowing report from inspectors.

Tynewater Primary School and its nursery class in Pathhead, Midlothian, was inspected by the Scottish Government’s Education Scotland agency.

Inspectors identified several strengths at the school, including enthusiastic and eager pupils and a highly committed headteacher.

Councillor Lisa Beattie, cabinet Member for education at Midlothian Council, said: “I congratulate the pupils, parents and staff at Tynewater Primary School on the strengths highlighted in this report.

“I’m encouraged that inspectors recognised the excellent education environment at this rural school, but acknowledge that more work needs done.

“We will be working closely with the school to continue to improve attainment and achievement.

“I would like to thank all the parents and wider community who make a remarkable contribution to the school work together to achieve the best possible education for our young people.”
