Innes to sing praises of his own film

AN OPERA singer who has forged a career bringing classical music to the streets is set to perform across the city to promote a new documentary about his life.

A film about John Innes – known as the “People’s Tenor” – will be the opening film of the Edinburgh Documentary Film Festival on Friday.

Mr Innes, who grew up in West Pilton, will sing at
St Andrew Square Garden to promote the film on Thursday from 10.30am to 11.30am, and at Princes Mall from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

He will perform at Ocean Terminal on Friday from 10.30am to 11.30am, and at Hunter Square between 1pm and 2pm.

Mr Innes, who has never had record label backing, decided to spend his life savings from street singing to hire the creative team behind Katherine Jenkins and Russell Watson.
