IT IS the most expensive newly built home ever to come on the market in Scotland, with an asking price of £8 million, but the sellers of the Whitehouse at Gleneagles insist it’s a snip.

The luxury home, still being built at one of the country’s most exclusive gated communities within the grounds of the Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Resort in Perthshire, is described as a “Great Gatsby-style” mansion and a blend of Georgian and Art Deco styles.

The 16,000sq ft mansion will come complete with its own swimming pool, orangery, soundproofed cinema, three-car garage and more than half an acre of garden.

The house is expected to be ready for occupation this summer, well ahead of the 2014 staging of the Ryder Cup match between Europe and the USA at one of the three courses at Gleneagles.

John Coleman, a partner with selling agents Smiths Gore, insisted yesterday that, despite the property’s daunting price tag, there should be no problem in attracting potential buyers across the globe.

He said: “Not only is it architecturally stunning with state-of-the-art finishes and is a golf lover’s dream, but at £500 per square foot it is a relative bargain, compared to other luxury properties worldwide which go for ten times that.

“In Hong Kong, the average price of luxury property is almost £7,000 per sq ft and in Mayfair in London sales are achieving £5,500 per sq ft.”

The Whitehouse is the most expensive of the 14 homes being built on Queen’s Crescent – an exclusive gated community within the Gleneagles resort. Each of the plots was sold off for around £1m by the hotel owners.

Mr Coleman said he was confident that the ultra-expensive house was likely to appeal to wealthy international businessmen who wanted to play their golf in the country where the sport was invented.

He explained: “We are looking at people who want to buy something special at a golf hotel resort.

“There are all sorts of choices in America, Japan, Hong Kong and South Africa, and what we are saying is that if we want to compete with these guys, then we have to build the very best, and that’s what we’re doing here.

“Everything will be top spec. This is about buying the very best of what Scotland has to offer on the very best golf resort. We think, in world terms, this is good value for money.”

Part of the package includes free membership of the Gleneagles resort for two years. But Mr Coleman said: “When you are spending £8m for a house, then £35,000 a year to be a member of the club isn’t going to hurt.”

Considering the amount of espionage that goes on at Gleneagles during the Golf open , that house will either be bought up by an MI6 proxy or it will be purchased by a billionaire paedophile satanist for use and abuse.. the house for some reason reminds of the home used in the torture-p*rn movie Hostel.

I am thinking of buying that house, the only thing is will have to find £8,000,000 from somewhere, a little overtime would help a lot, or if I am lucky I might win the Lottery. Nice house.

At the end off the day it's only 'bricks and mortar', all Be it a lovely house I'm sure you could find a place to stay comfortable cozy and warm for a tenth of the price, or how about a hotel.
