Hunt for Glasgow armed jewel robbers

ARMED robbers have stolen gems and threatened staff in a raid on a jewellery store.

Two men targeted a Beaverbrooks shop at Glasgow Fort retail park at 11:10am yesterday.

Strathclyde Police said the pair were carrying what looked like a gun and made off with merchandise of a “considerable” value. Officers are appealing for witnesses after the suspects escaped in a silver Volkswagen Golf, which was later found burnt out in Conisborough Road, Easterhouse.

Detective Inspector Laura Thomson said: “At this time, it has still to be established exactly what was stolen and the value of the jewellery, but it is believed to be a considerable amount.”
