House blueprint gets approval
A MAJOR new planning blueprint which sets out plans for 25,000 new homes has been formally adopted by West Lothian council.
The new West Lothian Local Plan forms a key part of the statutory development framework for the area, along with the approved Edinburgh and Lothians Structure Plan. It supersedes all previous local plans for Scotland's fastest growing area.
The new local plan sets out a long-term development strategy, which includes proposals for around 25,000 new homes, including much-needed affordable housing.
Executive councillor for development and transport Martyn Day said: "Formal adoption of the new local plan is extremely important for the continuing successful development of West Lothian.
"The adopted local plan will be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications. It provides a new development strategy for West Lothian for the next 10-15 years."
