Hopes raised in hunt for driver after bones find in Perthshire

THE 13-year search for the body of a lorry driver, battered to death by one of his best friends, may finally be over.

Adam Alexander was last seen alive in November 1999 by a neighbour at his home in the Perthshire village of Errol.

In April 2010 Thomas Pryde, one of his friends, was jailed for ten years at the High Court in Edinburgh after he admitted the culpable homicide of Mr Alexander, 38, at his home and disposing of the body.

Despite extensive searches, his body has never been found. But yesterday Tayside Police revealed officers had unearthed what is believed to be a piece of human bone in a field in the Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire.

A police spokesman said: “The discovery of what is understood to be part of a human left fibula was made in a field at Muiredge Farm, in the Errol area, during the latest search for the body of Adam Alexander. It is anticipated that specialist scene investigation officers will attend tomorrow to undertake a forensic recovery.”
