Homes plan approved for campus site
A FORMER college campus in Midlothian is set to be transformed after plans for a new multi-million-pound housing development were approved by council chiefs.
West Register (Realisations) Ltd will build 110 houses and 30 flats on the former site of Jewel & Esk Valley College in Eskbank, Dalkeith.
College bosses sold the site for an eight-figure sum in 2007 to help fund new campuses.
Jewel & Esk Valley College has around 8000 students studying at the Edinburgh campus, located in Milton Road East, and the Midlothian campus, based at Hardengreen, Dalkeith.
The housing plans were approved by Midlothian Council at a recent meeting.
In its report approving the development, the local authority said that the project “broadly complies” with the Edinburgh and Lothian Local Plan and the adopted Midlothian Local Plan.
