Holiday over for cheeky zoo monkeys
TWO monkeys that gave Edinburgh zookeepers the slip for two weeks have finally been recaptured.
The barbary macaques were among five that escaped from the zoo's Barbary Rock enclosure on 3 July.
The first three were coaxed back down from the trees by keepers with bananas, nuts and seeds last Tuesday, but the last two adult males remained out in the park.
They were caught on Friday evening, when they wandered in to a baboon house. All five former escapees, four adults and a baby, are now being kept in the zoo's Monkey House, until modifications are made to their new Barbary Rock home to prevent them going on the run again.
A spokeswoman said: "It brings to an end quite an exciting two weeks for these monkeys."
