Hogmanay success is in the hands of weather, says council leader Jenny Dawe
COUNCIL leader Jenny Dawe has admitted that the success of this year's Hogmanay street party is "in the hands of the weather".
Cllr Dawe said she is satisfied that preparations are going to plan, despite the capacity having to be reduced by a quarter to 75,000 this year.
But she admitted that there is always a concern about how weather will impact the event.
Last year's event took place in perfect conditions. But the event has been cancelled twice in recent years because of the weather.
"As far as I can gather, things are going to plan. There is a very good line-up but, as usual, it is in the hands of the weather. That is the big unknown," said Cllr Dawe.
