Highland Council: council tax freeze
HIGHLAND Council is set to freeze the Council Tax for a sixth successive year while making £11.6million in savings.
The local authority will debate its budget for 2013/14 next week.
A report to councillors explains how savings of £11.637 had been found, while it was just £3.3million short of the £12.3million target savings for the following year.
Councillors will be asked to confirm a budet of £548.436million for the coming financial year when it meets on Thursday.
The proposed budget for 2014/15 is £547.625million.
While savings have been found, councillors are being asked to approve £2million additional funding towards roads maintenance and £1million extra for children’s services.
