Halal meat challenge

CHARITY Scotland for Animals has demanded the Scottish Parliament follow Westminster and take Halal meat off the menu.

The group said all chicken products supplied to Holyrood are Halal, and spokesman John Patrick said the method of slaughter was not appropriate.

“We have lodged formal complaints regarding the situation to the parliamentary business committee and First Minister Alex Salmond,” he said. “There should be no place for meat from ritually-sacrificed animals where laws are made for a modern nation.”
