Gun salute to honour Kirk Assembly
GUNNERS from the Capital's 105 Regiment Royal Artillery will fire a 21-gun salute at Edinburgh Castle on Thursday to mark the opening of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
Before the salute, which will take place at 10am, the gun crews – representing the only Territorial Army gunner regiment in Scotland and Northern Ireland – will be inspected by the Royal Netherlands Army's Major General Mart de Kruif.
Lieutenant Colonel Chris Huthwaite, the regiment's commanding officer, said: "This is 105 Regiment's third Royal Salute this year, providing us with a tremendous opportunity to mark this auspicious occasion."
