Guided busway to close for tram preparations

THE Capital's £10 million guided busway will close in November to allow tram firm TIE to start preparation work for laying tram tracks.

The Fastlink busway, a two-lane, 1.5km stretch of road from Stenhouse to Broomhouse, opened in December 2004, promising a "fast, modern bus service that will speed past traffic congestion".

But the off-road section will now be closed and converted to allow trams to run on it. The first on-street track will be put down at the bottom of Leith Walk.
