Group focuses on changes to MS treatment

A FOCUS group to help people with multiple sclerosis learn about proposed changes to the treatment of the disease in Scotland is to be set up in the Lothians.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society Scotland and NHS Quality Improvement Scotland are inviting people with multiple sclerosis to attend the focus group on new standards for neurological health services, including MS services, in NHS Scotland.

The development of the neurological health services standards, which include a focus on MS services, started last year, and are due to be finalised and published later this year.

Among the key questions the group will discuss are whether there are aspects that are important to people who use the services that have not been included in the draft standards, and whether they are easy to understand.

Ryan Norton, MS Society Scotland communications manager, said: "This focus group is a great opportunity for people with MS to shape the new standards and ensure they meet their needs. We are working in partnership with the NHS to engage service users fully in the process."

The focus group meets from 12-3pm on Thursday, February 12, at Leuchie House in North Berwick.
