Greek pair develop swine flu on return from visit to the Capital

HEALTH officials in Greece have confirmed that two students are being treated for swine flu after recently returning home from Edinburgh.

The students, who have not been named, had travelled home together earlier this week and have become only the second and third confirmed cases in Greece.

The country's health minister yesterday said a 21-year-old man had been confirmed as having the virus after his compatriot, also 21, tested positive on Tuesday. A third man, who had been travelling with the infected pair, tested negative for the virus.

It was not known whether the men had been studying in the Capital or just visiting.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Government said there was no evidence to suggest that either of the students had caught the virus in Scotland, and said there were currently no confirmed or suspected cases in the Lothians.

Meanwhile a 37-year-old Glasgow man remains seriously ill in hospital after being confirmed as having the virus.

Yesterday it was confirmed his wife and their three children were also probable cases.
