Grave concern over fallen headstones
A NEW drive has been launched to re-erect historic gravestones at one of the Capital’s oldest churches.
Leaders of the Corstorphine Trust said they had launched the drive after finding around a fifth of gravestones at the area’s Old Parish Church had been knocked over.
The church was founded in 1429 and the city-council owned graveyard is also believed to be centuries old. The move comes after offenders last year helped fix more than 200 gravestones at Liberton Brae Cemetery.
Donald Baird, member of the executive at Corstorphine Trust, said: “We have had positive discussions with the city council on re-erecting the stones.
“Re-erecting them would make such a difference. The graveyard looks deplorable just now.”
