Gift card pays city charities

CHARITIES in the capital are set to land a festive windfall thanks to the increasing trend of giving gift cards as Christmas presents.

An exclusive Text Santa Gift Card is supporting six charities that work in the Edinburgh area, such as Age UK, Anthony Nolan, Carers UK, and Marie Curie.

For every card sold, 2 per cent of the amount of money loaded on to the card will be donated to the Text Santa appeal.

Declan Byrne, managing director of gift card firm One4all, which is running the scheme, said: “With donations severely hit by wider economic factors, it’s important to find new ways to tap into people’s festive spirit and encourage them to buy presents that also help charities.”

Cards can be bought at Post Offices or One4all’s website.
