Gas leak shuts Forth bridge

TRAFFIC was prevented from entering the Forth Road Bridge yesterday following a gas leak at a nearby petrol station.

A 200-metre exclusion zone was mounted in response to the LPG leak at a Shell garage in South Queensferry.

The exclusion zone meant the crossing had to be closed to vehicles for around five minutes as precautionary measures were taken.

Fire crews vented the petrol station and the area was declared safe at around 2pm.
