G8 lout locked up after court order broken
A TEENAGE protester has been detained for his part in the G8 riots, 16 months after the summit.
David Watson, 16, of Coalgate Avenue, Tranent, had sentence deferred on him by Sheriff Gordon Liddle in June this year and was told to be of good behaviour.
At that time, Sheriff Liddle warned: "If he steps out of line then he faces the prospect of custody".
When Watson appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday it was revealed that he was serving a period of detention in Polmont Young Offenders' Institution.
Watson had admitted throwing bread crates and other missiles at police on July 4, 2005, and throwing a scaffolding pole at a police line in South St David Street which narrowly missed the heads of several officers.
Sheriff Liddle ordered that the three months sentence should run consecutive to the existing sentence.
