Funeral delay due to wrong body claims

THE funeral of a man stabbed to death has been cancelled at short notice amid bizarre claims that the wrong body was being cremated.

It has been alleged that the body of photo journalist Thomas Allwood – who was an investigator with Australian-based INL News – may not have been correctly identified.

A staff member at West Lothian Crematorium in Livingston confirmed the funeral did not take place as scheduled.

Kyle Montgomery, 24, of Winchburgh, West Lothian, was convicted of the culpable homicide of Mr Allwoood last month.

Montgomery is due to be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on December 20. He claimed the killing in Broxburn, West Lothian, on June 21 was an accident.
